Dr. Chase is a visiting assistant professor in Occupational Therapy. Prior to this, he was an Evaluation and Research Specialist at the STEM Education Innovation and Research Institute (SEIRI) at IUPUI where he is currently a Faculty Fellow. His expertise is in Research Methodology and Assessment. He studied Chemical Education during his bachelor's program at the University of Nebraska as well as his master's program at Purdue University. His Ph.D. is in Educational Psychology and Research Methodology with a focus on Assessment.
His published work has been focused around chemistry laboratory assessment, instrument validation, and situated cognition. He has worked closely with all three major military academies (United States Military Academy, United States Air Force Academy, and United States Naval Academy) to provide opportunities for cadets and midshipmen to engage in undergraduate research. Specifically, he stood up a Course-based Undergraduate Research Experience at the United States Military Academy at West Point that now impacts over a third of cadets entering the academy. His statistical expertise includes factor analyses, MLM, and SEM. Dr. Chase has further served as researcher, evaluator, and consultant on grant projects that involved education and student learning.
