Robin Janson, Ph.D., is a clinical assistant professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy. Her areas of expertise include digital design and fabrication (3D printing), orthotics, and hand therapy. Prior to beginning her appointment at the School of Health & Human Sciences, Janson was in clinical practice as an occupational therapist specializing in hand therapy at Methodist Sports Medicine from 2008 to 2016, Wishard Hospital and Health Services from 2005 to 2007, and The Hand Rehabilitation Center of Indiana from 1989 to 1997. She served as an adjunct lecturer from 1998 to 2016 and an academic fieldwork coordinator from 2005 to 2008 for the IU Occupational Theraphy Program. She is a co-author of the textbook: Hand and Upper Extremity Splinting: Principles and Methods by Fess, Gettle, Philips and Janson (2005). Janson graduated from Indiana University with a B.S. in Occupational Therapy in 1989 and received her M.S. in Health Sciences Education in 2004 and a Post-Professional Doctorate in Occupational Therapy in 2016 from Indiana University. She is also a certified hand therapist earning her initial certification in 1994.
Janson focuses on applications for digital design and fabrication technologies in occupational therapy education and practice. She has a publication and, has given more than 30 presentations on the topic of 3D printing.
