Biography
Laura Klaum is the director of external affairs and special projects for the School of Health & Human Sciences. Along with its alumni magazine, she manages communications and special events for the school’s institutes and programs. For 13 years, Klaum was the director of development and external affairs for the School of Physical Education and Tourism Management. She taught as an adjunct faculty member in the tourism, event, and sport management department for three years. Her previous roles include assistant director of the Sigma Theta Tau International Foundation for Nursing and Kiwanis International’s program development department manager.
Klaum was the 2018 runner-up recipient of IUPUI’s student employment supervisor of the year. She was inducted into Nu Lambda Mu, the Nonprofit Academic Centers Council honor society in 2014. She received the Association of Fundraising Professional’s chapter president's award in 2012 and 2008 for leadership in planning statewide association events. Klaum earned a B.A. degree in Liberal Arts from Purdue University in 1989. She received a graduate certificate in Nonprofit Management from Indiana University in 2014 and an M.A. degree in Philanthropic Studies from Indiana University in 2015. She received a certificate in fundraising management from the Fund Raising School at Indiana University in 2000 and completed IUPUI's Institute for Supervisory Excellence in 2017.
