Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics

Application Requirements

If you have not yet completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application but expect to have it completed by the start of the program must complete the Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree Requirements Form. This form will need a signature from an advisor or a school official.  Upload to the IU Graduate CAS application.

  • Cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale.
  • We calculate cumulative GPA on courses with grades that are recorded on official university/college transcripts.

The outstanding prerequisite must be completed before the program start date in August.  Record all prerequisite coursework on the Prerequisite Course Completion Form and submit through the IU Graduate CAS application.

Provide a copy of your license or a completed Prerequisite Course Competition Form via the IU Graduate CAS application.

Only recommendations submitted electronically via the IU Graduate CAS application will be reviewed.

The IU Graduate CAS application must be completed by the Application Deadline of June 1st.

Prerequisite Courses Information

The Master of Science in Nutrition and Dietetics program requires a series of prerequisite classes to prepare you for the program’s coursework. Prerequisite coursework must be at a level for science majors and be completed with a with a
minimum grade in each course of B- or 80%.

 

As a part of your application, you must fill out a Prerequisite Course Completion Form.  Please see additional information on how to fill out this form.

  • Human Anatomy- 1 semester with lab
  • Human Physiology- 1 semester, lab preferred
  • Undergraduate Biochemistry- 1 semester, lab preferred
  • Microbiology- 1 semester with lab
  • Research Methods
  • Statistics- must include descriptive and inferential
  • Nutrition course- 300 level or above with a science prerequisite

Although you can fill in a form while it is displayed within your browser, we strongly recommend that you not do so. You will lose all entered form data if you browse to other web pages in the same browser window that you are using to display the screen fillable form. You run the risk of accidentally deleting all of your entered form data by inadvertently clicking on the “back or “forward” buttons on your browser. Clicking either of these buttons will close the form and delete of all your information.
We recommend that you open the Acrobat Reader program, click on file/open and locate the form saved on your computer hard drive. Then fill out the form in Acrobat Reader independently from your browser or your Internet connection.
Once you have located and downloaded a desired form to your PC, you are now ready to begin filling out the form.

 

  • Completion of all or no more than one (1) prerequisite course outstanding by the application deadline and must be completed prior to the start of the program in August.
  • An official course description or course syllabus may be requested to approve some courses.
  • For combined Human Anatomy & Physiology classes, a full academic year curriculum with lab is required.
  • This form must be uploaded to the IU Graduate CAS application and submitted by the application deadline.

  2. If you have not completed your bachelor’s degree you will need to complete a Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree Requirements Form and submit with the IU Graduate CAS application
