Step 1: Review the admissions requirements

To be eligible to apply for the Doctorate in Nutrition and Dietetics program you need to meet the following requirements.

  • Completed all prerequisites with a maximum of one outstanding course at the time of your application. All prerequisite courses must be completed before starting the program.

Step 2: Complete your application

You'll apply to the program using the IU Centralized Application System (CAS). Submit your application, along with the $70 application fee by the application deadline. Applications are not reviewed until this fee is paid.


Step 3: Submit all supporting documents

All supporting documents, including, the prerequisite course completion form and the declaration of intent to complete degree—if you are unfinished with your bachelor’s degree—must be submitted through IU CAS by the application deadline.

Record all prerequisite coursework on the prerequisite course completion form and submit it through the IU CAS.

If you have not yet completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application you must complete the declaration of intent to complete degree form. This form will need signatures from an advisor and a school official.

You will submit your official academic transcript(s) through CAS.

All applicants must have a food safety certification such as the ServSafe Certificate at the manager level, the Food Managers Certificate from NRSFP, or equivalent. A copy of your certification must be added to CAS before admission can be finalized 
A personal statement should support your application and be submitted through IU CAS. 

We require three letters of recommendation, filed with your CAS application. Letters of recommendation can be from former professors, supervisors, professionals, or anyone else who can give an overall honest assessment of your abilities and character.
