Step 1: Review the admissions requirements

To be eligible to apply for the Doctorate in Nutrition and Dietetics program you need to meet the following requirements.

  • Completed all prerequisites with a maximum of one outstanding course at the time of your application. All prerequisite courses must be completed before starting the program.

Step 2: Complete your application

You'll apply to the program using the IU Centralized Application System (CAS). Submit your application, along with the $70 application fee by the application deadline. Applications are not reviewed until this fee is paid.


Step 3: Submit all supporting documents

All supporting documents, including, the prerequisite course completion form and the declaration of intent to complete degree requirements—if you are unfinished with your bachelor’s degree—must be submitted through CAS by the application deadline.

If you have not yet completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application you must complete the declaration of intent to complete degree requirements form. This form requires a signature from an advisor or a school official.

You will submit all your official academic transcript(s) through CAS.

All applicants must have a current manager-level food safety certification such as the ServSafe Certificate at the manager level, the Food Managers Certificate from NRSFP, or equivalent. A copy of your certification must be submitted through CAS.
A personal statement should support your application and be submitted through IU CAS. 

We require three letters of recommendation. Letters of recommendation can be from former professors, supervisors, professionals, or anyone else who isn't a relative that can give an overall honest assessment of your abilities and character. All letters of recommendation must be submitted electronically through CAS.
