In response to the Coronavirus pandemic, the OT Admissions Committee is making the following changes to application requirements for the 2020-2021 application cycle:
Acceptance of online labs for prerequisite courses completed in spring 2020, summer 2020, and fall 2020. These will be accepted for any application year.
Acceptance of a Satisfactory grade for prerequisite courses completed in spring 2020. The preference would be for all applicants to earn a letter grade. If an applicant’s school has transitioned to a Satisfactory/Fail or Pass/Fail grading option, grades would be accepted as follows: For students in the Indiana University system, a Satisfactory grade would be accepted although a Passing grade would not be accepted. For applicants from universities other than Indiana University, either Satisfactory or Passing grades will be accepted, though Satisfactory is preferred if both S and P grades are an option.
No OT shadowing hours are required for the 2020-2021 application cycle.
To be eligible to apply for the Doctor of Occupational Therapy program you need to meet the following requirements:
If you have not yet completed your bachelor’s degree at the time of application but expect to have it completed by the start of the program, you must complete the Declaration of Intent to Complete Degree Requirements Form. This form will need a signature from an advisor or a school official and uploaded to OTCAS.
Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.2.
Minimum Prerequisite GPA of 3.2.
All undergraduate and graduate course work is included in cumulative grade point average calculations.
All GPAs will be calculated by OTCAS.
In addition, all prerequisites must be completed with a minimum grade of C.
At the September 15th application deadline, applicants may have one prerequisite course outstanding scheduled for completion in EITHER the fall or spring term. The outstanding prerequisite must be completed before the program start date in May.
