Community-Engaged Research

Addiction recovery research

A research team is collaborating with two community partners to study occupational health strategies at the individual and group level with the potential to help youth recover from addiction.

The goal is to add to the body of knowledge of occupational therapy’s unique contributions in the area of mental health and to show how occupational therapists can mitigate the impacts of Indiana’s current shortage of qualified behavioral health providers.

Resources available to community-engaged researchers

Researchers working on community-involved projects often make use of the IU School of Medicine’s Student Outreach Clinic.

This free, student-run clinic is the ideal setting for research projects that aim to make new discoveries while improving the quality of life of underserved people in Indianapolis.
