When to apply for reinstatement? To be reinstated you must contact the school by the following deadlines:
- June 15 for the fall semester
- October 15 for the spring semester
- March 15 for the summer session
What happens after reinstatement? A reinstated student will be required to meet with an academic advisor. And, the student must register for classes before the first day of classes of the reinstatement term.
Students who are reinstated are classified as on probationary status and will remain on probationary status until their IU cumulative GPA is a 2.0 or higher. Further, the student will be required to obtain a grade point average of 2.3 or higher during the first semester or summer session back.
If you, the reinstated student, does not achieve these standards you will be subject to a second dismissal. A student dismissed for a second time must remain out of school for two full semesters, not including summer sessions. After a second dismissal, a student may petition for readmission during the second semester out of school but readmission after a second dismissal is extremely rare.
