Student Ambassadors

About the ambassadors

The ambassador program began in 2015 as a way to involve student representatives at recruitment and alumni events. Each year around 20 students are selected to spend the academic year attending school and campus activities, speaking to alumni, friends, current and prospective students of the school. The ambassadors serve a one-year term. As long as they maintain good standing with the program, they can return each year until their graduation.

What it means to join the ambassadors

To be qualified to be a student ambassador you must be in good standing with the school and have a cumulative IU grade point average of at least 3.0.

We look for individuals who are willing and eager to genuinely share their SHHS story to a diverse group of audiences. Also, an ambassador must be committed to representing the school for one full academic year and meet the minimum number of obligations.

  • Visit with prospective students and alumni at events throughout the academic year.
  • Share with others the student perspective of SHHS academic programs and student life at IUPUI.
  • Attend monthly ambassador meetings and training activities.
  • Assist the Office of Student Engagement & Success as needed.

  • Have an IU cumulative GPA of at least 3.0
  • Have a clean conduct record with the university
  • Abide by the IUPUI Student Code of Conduct
  • Be a fully admitted student to the school and have completed at least one full semester at IUPUI by the fall semester following acceptance into the program
  • Be genuinely eager to share your IUPUI and SHHS story
  • Actively seek to meet the minimum number of required volunteer hours

  • Candidates submit an application and required application materials by the deadline during the spring semester.
  • After applications have been reviewed and eligibility has been determined, qualified candidates are invited to participate in a 15-minute interview with a committee consisting of out-going ambassadors, faculty and staff of the school, and ambassador program advisors.
