TESM can award up to 15 hours of credit based on the demonstration of prior learning gained through experience in the field of hospitality. The credit hours can be applied to the Bachelor of Science in TESM Degree. Any professional experience or certification must be current within the last 5 years. All credit is awarded through the completion of written coursework in TESM-C 489 CREDIT FOR PRIOR LEARNING IN TESM and is assessed by a qualified faculty member.
The three primary ways TESM awards credit for prior learning is through work experience, on-the-job management and leadership training, and certifications.
Students complete written coursework in Canvas to demonstrate prior learning tied to program learning outcomes. Prior work experience is generally applied to the TESM-C 401 INTERNSHIP (6 cr.) course.
