Kathy Visovatti Weaver, RN, MPA, J.D., is a senior clinical lecturer in the Department of Health Sciences. She holds degrees in nursing, public administration, and law, all from Indiana University. She also has a certificate from the Governor’s Executive Management School, a parish nursing certificate from the University of Southern Indiana, and is a graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Public Health, Advanced Public Health Leadership Institute. Weaver is currently working on a master’s in theology from St. Meinrad University.
Weaver practiced neonatal nursing in Madison, Wisc., Rockford, Ill., and Indianapolis. She spent many years at the Indiana State Department of Health focused on maternal and child health issues, local health department organization, writing and implementing federal grants, and public health policy development with the state health commissioner. Weaver’s academic and practice expertise is in childhood injury prevention, gerontology, policy development, health care administration, public administration, and public health.
She has been recognized by the IU Indianapolis Alumni Association as a Maynard K. Hine Award recipient, by the Indiana Public Health Association receiving the President’s Award for Public Health Leadership, and by the Indiana Perinatal Association as Outstanding Perinatal Professional.
